FAQs
Yes. The AA1 shunt trip release is designed for lateral attachment to MS116, MS132, and MS165 manual motor starters, enabling remote tripping within ABB’s motor protection family.
The unit operates on a 20–24 V DC control circuit. Tripping occurs when the supply voltage remains within 70% to 110% of the rated control circuit voltage during tripping, ensuring reliable action without nuisance operation.
The product carries CE conformity and UL/CSA listings, with additional third‑party approvals including DNV GL, BV, ABS, RINA, LR, and UL certifications, supporting global regulatory compliance.
Connections use screw terminals with a tightening torque of 0.8–1.2 N·m. Wire stripping length for the auxiliary circuit is 10 mm, and recommended tooling includes a Pozidriv 2 screwdriver for secure, vibration‑resistant connections.
Remote tripping enhances safety and reduces downtime by enabling rapid, controlled shutdown of motors. The solution simplifies installation, supports regulatory compliance, and is compatible with ABB’s protection ecosystem, contributing to lower maintenance costs and faster ROI in manufacturing environments.
