Quick Summary

ABB AFC contactor is a three‑pole, 690 V block switch designed to control AC power circuits in industrial drives and machines. This compact device helps engineers simplify motor control with a single NC auxiliary contact and Push-in terminals for fast wiring. Many teams struggle with coil voltage variants and mounting compatibility across control cabinets; this model is designed to address that by offering a stable coil option at 175 V AC 50 Hz or 208 V AC 60 Hz and a robust 3P footprint. Certified to IEC/EN 60947-1, IEC/EN 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1 and CSA benchmarks, it supports reliable compliance. By pairing with add-on accessories and compatible AF components, it delivers reduced panel complexity and improved maintenance planning.

FAQs

The AFC contactor is designed for DIN rail mounting on TH35 rails (TH35-15 or TH35-7.5). It can also be screwed to panels with two M4 screws placed diagonally, offering flexible installation in varied enclosures.
AC-1 rated current is up to 28 A at 690 V, while AC-3 ratings vary by voltage; for 690 V, Ie is 9 A with 7.5 kW motor power at 690 V. At 380–440 V, Ie can reach around 12 A with corresponding power ratings, depending on ambient temperature and wiring.
AFC contactors use a block design with a wide range of add-on auxiliary contact blocks and accessories, enabling customized interlocks and control circuits while preserving a compact footprint and consistent wiring practices.
Yes. They conform to IEC/EN 60947‑1 and 60947‑4‑1, UL 60947‑4‑1, and CSA C22.2 No. 60947‑4‑1, with additional declarations for CE, UKCA, and related certifications as applicable to regional variants.
Main and auxiliary circuits use Push-in Spring Terminals with wiring capacities: Main and Auxiliary circuits support flexible ferrules 0.5–4 mm² and rigid 0.5–6 mm². Wire stripping length is 12 mm for main, 10 mm for auxiliary and control circuits, ensuring reliable terminations in connected control panels.
