ABB 1SBL171005R4201 Block Contactor - UL/CSA Certified
Part Number: 1SBL171005R4201
Quick Summary
Block Contactor ABB 1SBL171005R4201 is a 3-pole power switch for controlling AC motors in machinery. Many installations struggle with long wiring times, coil pull-in delays, and limited accessory compatibility, which can drive up commissioning costs. This device from the AFC family is designed for reliable AC-3 and AC-1 switching with a coil voltage of 230–240 V at 50 Hz or 277 V at 60 Hz, and it supports main circuits up to 690 V. It carries CE, UKCA, and UL certifications and IP20 protection, underscoring global compliance. Its block-style design, PUSH-in terminals, and TH35 DIN-rail mounting simplify installation, minimize downtime, and ease future expansion through add-on auxiliary blocks, delivering tangible total-cost-of-ownership benefits.

FAQs
The 1SBL171005R4201 uses TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rail adapters. Align the contactor with the rail, snap it into place, and verify a firm, vibration-resistant grip. Ensure adjacent devices do not interfere with terminal access or heat dissipation.
The coil accepts 230–240 V AC at 50 Hz or 277 V AC at 60 Hz. This makes the device compatible with European 50 Hz and many North American control systems, reducing the need for separate coil variants and simplifying stocking.
Yes. The unit is designed for AC-3 control with rated power and current suitable for mid-size motors. For 415–690 V operation, the AC-3 power rating is specified to accommodate typical motor loads in industrial equipment.
This contactor holds CE, UKCA, and UL certifications, with compliance noted for IEC/EN 60947-1 and 60947-4-1, among others. IP20 protection and a modular AFC design support safe, regulated installations across regions.
Main circuit terminals accept flexible ferrules 0.5–4 mm² or rigid 0.5–6 mm²; auxiliary circuit uses 0.5–4 mm² flexible ferrules or similar. Push-in terminals provide secure connections with recommended stripping lengths of about 10–12 mm for the main and auxiliary circuits.
