Extended Description

1SBL231001R8600 ABB: The AFC26-30-00-86 is a 3-pole - 690 V IEC or 600 V UL contactor withScrew terminals, mainly controlling power circuits up to 11 kW / 400 V AC (AC-3) or 15 hp / 480 V AC UL and 45 A (AC-1) or 45 A UL general use. Within the AF platform, AFC contactors offer an optimized operating time for AC controlled applications with electromagnetic coil (control voltage : 400 ... 415 V AC 50 Hz / 415 ... 440 V AC 60 Hz). AFC contactors have a block type design and can be easily extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks and a wide range of additionnal accessories.

3-pole main circuit rated for up to 690 V enables reliable AC-3 motor switching up to 11 kW. This compact performance consolidates switching functions within a single block contactor, reducing wiring runs and panel depth while improving serviceability. The unit is well-suited for conveyors, pumps, fans, and small drives in manufacturing lines where space is at a premium and downtime costs matter. Coil voltage compatibility supports 50 Hz networks with 400–415 V and 60 Hz networks with 415–440 V, enabling regional deployment without additional transformers. With a low coil consumption profile—8 VA holding, 66–70 VA pull-in—the device minimizes heat rise and energy use in control cabinets, boosting overall efficiency. These characteristics translate to longer coil life and reduced cooling requirements. Modular design allows add-on auxiliary contact blocks and AF accessories to extend control circuits without replacing the base unit, preserving capital spend. The block-contactor architecture simplifies spare parts inventories and vendor maintenance, while maintaining consistent performance across a site. Customers can customize control logic for start-stop sequences, interlocks, and signaling without disruption. DIN-rail mounting options TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 simplify installation in standard control panels, and screw terminals with ferrule-ready connections speed wiring and reduce terminal stress. Product is IP20 protected with robust mechanical ratings and a wide ambient temperature range, ensuring reliable operation from -25 to 70 C in free air near the panel. Compliance with IEC/EN, UL/CSA standards and RoHS/REACH declarations means broad market applicability and safer, sustainable equipment. Widespread availability of datasheets and installation guides supports faster commissioning and training. With ABB AF platform compatibility, integration with existing automation architectures is straightforward, delivering predictable performance and a lower total cost of ownership.

FAQs

Mount the unit on a TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rail, using the provided DIN-rail compatibility. For the main circuit, terminate with flexible cables or ferrule-equipped conductors up to 10 mm² per pole, tightening to 2.5 N·m. For the control circuit, use 0.75–2.5 mm² conductors and tighten to 1.2 N·m. Observe IP20 protection for the terminals and maintain adequate spacing to avoid overheating.
At 690 V AC, the contactor provides AC-3 rated operational current of 26 A, with AC-3e values matching 26 A in common voltage ranges. The AC-1 rating is 45 A at 690 V, with 40 °C ambient conditions. These figures support 11 kW design intent at 415 V (AC-3) and related configurations, enabling reliable motor starting and control in typical industrial loads.
Yes, the coil supports 400–415 V at 50 Hz and 415–440 V at 60 Hz, covering common regional power profiles without extra transformers. Accessory expansion includes auxiliary contact blocks and AF family accessories to extend control circuits, interlocks, and signaling. This modularity helps tailor the control scheme to specific machines while preserving the base unit.
The model aligns with IEC/EN 60947-4-1 and UL 60947-4-1 standards, with CE and RoHS declarations supporting global deployments. Additional certifications include UL/CSA listings and related declarations, enabling use in North American, European, and other regional panels. This broad compliance reduces the need for multiple part variants and simplifies cross-border procurement.
The compact design reduces panel space and wiring, lowering initial enclosure costs. Low coil energy (8 VA holding) minimizes heat and cooling requirements, reducing operating energy and extending coil life. Modular accessory support simplifies upgrades and spare-parts inventory, improving maintenance predictability and potentially lowering total cost of ownership over the equipment life cycle.
