FAQs
This contactor supports DIN rail mounting on TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 rails, with 2 x M4 screws for alternative screw mounting. The main and control circuits use Push-in terminals for quick terminations, and compatibility with add-on auxiliary blocks provides scalable signaling and interlocking options for panel installations.
For AC-3 loads, the device provides up to 38 A at 690 V and up to 18.5 kW at 415–690 V, with AC-3e ratings matching these values. For AC-1, ratings reach 50 A at 690 V with corresponding voltage and thermal derating. These figures support common motor control and general purpose switching in industrial environments.
Yes. With a 3P configuration and 690 V insulation, it is suitable for AC-3 motor control tasks, including starting and stopping motors up to the specified power ratings. The 24 V control coil and fast operate times (9–26 ms coil energization to contacts) support responsive, safe operation in automation lines.
The AFC38-30-00K-81 is designed to IEC/EN 60947-1 and IEC/EN 60947-4-1 compliant, with UL 60947-4-1 and CSA recognition. It also carries CE, UKCA, and other declarations as part of ABB’s global certification framework, ensuring conformity for international machine builds and panel assemblies.
Low coil power consumption (8 V·A holding, 70 V·A pull-in) reduces standby energy use, and the 2.44 W per pole loss for AC-1 operation supports cooler, longer-lasting devices. The compact form factor, DIN-rail mounting, and availability of accessory blocks simplify expansion, delivering faster ROI through reduced wiring time and lower replacement risk.
