FAQs
The unit is designed for TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rails. Mount the contactor on the rail, secure it, and wire the Main Circuit using rigid or flexible 0.5 x 6–35 mm² conductors, and the Control Circuit with 0.75–2.5 mm² conductors. Use the specified torque values (Main Circuit 4 N·m, Control Circuit 1.2 N·m) and ensure copper ferrules or rigid conductors are firmly seated in screw terminals. This supports reliable performance and simplifies future maintenance.
For AC-1, the rated operational current at 690 V is up to 70 A (40 °C), 60 A (60 °C), or 50 A (70 °C). For AC-3, ratings vary by voltage: at 415–440 V, 60 °C, 40 A; at 500–690 V, 60 °C, 25–40 A depending on the exact voltage. Maximum short-time withstand and breaking capacities are specified (e.g., 600–950 A short-time ratings depending on voltage and cos φ). This data enables precise coordination with motors and drive systems.
Yes. The 3P 690 V contactor is designed for AC-3 and AC-1 duty with ample current ratings and a compact block form factor, making it well-suited for HVAC fan motors, pumps, and conveyors. Its coil options align with 50 Hz and 60 Hz networks, and the block design supports expansion with auxiliary contacts for more complex motor control schemes. Proper sizing and coordination with overload relays ensure safe, reliable operation.
This ABB contactor complies with IEC/EN 60947-1 and 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No. 60947-4-1, and UL 60335-2-40 for related assemblies. It also carries CE and UKCA declarations, plus additional certificates (BV, CB, CCC, DNV, RINA, UL/CSA). These certifications help streamline approvals for global deployments and ensure alignment with safety, EMC, and consumer appliance standards.
The device features low coil power loss (3 W per pole in AC-1, 1 W in AC-3) and a projected robust service life under typical industrial duty. Regular inspection of terminal connections for tightness (4 N·m main, 1.2 N·m control) and periodic contact wear checks for the main contacts help prevent unexpected trips. The extendable design with auxiliary blocks reduces retrofit costs, delivering favorable ROI in applications with evolving control logic and expansion needs.
