Feature → Business Impact → Application: The 4-pole, 690 V main circuit with 4 normally open contacts provides reliable switching for high-power motors, improving uptime and reducing incidental power interruptions in conveyors, pumps, and fans. This translates to fewer unplanned outages and smoother production lines in demanding environments. Application: suitable for AC-1 duty up to 70 A (at 690 V) and AC-3 up to 40 A (depending on voltage), enabling scalable control for mid-size industrial loads. Feature → Business Impact → Application: Coil voltage options of 230–240 V AC at 50 Hz and 240–260 V AC at 60 Hz ensure compatibility with common European control systems, reducing wiring complexity and the need for adapters. Application: supports standard control cabinets and ensures consistent coil energization for reliable operation. Feature → Business Impact → Application: Screw terminals and DIN rail mounting (TH35-15) simplify field installation and future maintenance, cutting install time by aligning with common panel practices. Application: ideal for retrofit projects or new builds in machine and panel assembly lines. Feature → Business Impact → Application: Add-on auxiliary contact blocks provide scalable control without replacing the base device, cutting spare parts costs and enabling future logic expansion. Application: future-proofing for automation sequences and safety interlocks in material handling and packaging lines. Feature → Business Impact → Application: Defined mechanical and electrical ratings, IP ratings, and environmental specs (−40 to 70 °C, 3000 m altitude) ensure predictable performance in harsh factory floors, reducing warranty risk. Application: automotive, textile, and process industries with demanding ambient conditions. Feature → Business Impact → Application: Low coil power loss (3 W per pole AC-1, 1 W per pole AC-3) and known coil consumption (20 V·A hold, 150/151 V·A pull-in) contribute to energy efficiency and thermal reliability in crowded control panels. Application: reduces running costs and thermal stress for continuous operation.

FAQs

Install the unit on a TH35-15 DIN rail (DIN rail mounting). Connect the main circuit with flexible ferrule 1/2x 4–35 mm² or rigid 1/2x 6–35 mm² using screw terminals. For the control circuit, use flexible ferrule 1/2x 0.75–2.5 mm² or rigid 1/2x 1–2.5 mm². Maintain correct wire stripping lengths (16 mm for main, 10 mm for control) and ensure IP20/IP10 protection levels are respected during installation.
AC-1 ratings are up to 70 A at 690 V (40 °C) and 60 A at 690 V (60 °C), with 50 A at 690 V (70 °C). AC-3 ratings include 40 A across multiple voltages (e.g., 415–690 V and up to 40 A at 380/400 V). These figures support motor control and other inductive loads with distinct duty profiles, enabling correct selection for reliable operation.
Yes, the AFC family is designed for general-purpose motor control in 400 V three-phase systems. It supports 380/400 V nominal voltages with appropriate AC-3 and AC-1 ratings. It can be extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks, and it integrates with AF platform accessories for customized control logic and signaling, simplifying expansion without replacing the base device.
This device carries UL/CSA listings, CE and UKCA declarations, and RoHS/REACH compliance. These certifications ensure safe electrical performance, regulatory conformity for European and North American markets, and ongoing environmental responsibility, reducing compliance risk for assemblies and end-users in regulated industries.
ROI is driven by higher uptime from reliable switching, reduced maintenance through robust coil and terminal design, and streamlined installation with DIN rail mounting and screw terminals. The ability to add auxiliary blocks later without replacing the base unit minimizes spare parts inventories and supports scalable control architectures, delivering lower total cost of ownership over the equipment lifecycle.
