FAQs

This ABB block contactor is designed for DIN rail mounting on TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 rails, and also supports mounting by screws with diagonally placed fasteners. The screw terminals on the main circuit and control circuit simplify installation in compact control panels and facilitate field servicing, reducing downtime during swapping or upgrades.
The device features 4 poles with 2 normally open and 2 normally closed contacts (2 NO + 2 NC). Main circuit voltage rating is up to 690 V, with rated operational current AC-1 up to 70 A (40 °C), 60 A (60 °C), or 50 A (70 °C). Auxiliary contacts are not included, and coil voltages are 400–415 V AC (50 Hz) or 415–440 V AC (60 Hz).
Yes. It complies with IEC/EN 60947-1 and 60947-4-1, with UL/CSA listings and CE/UKCA markings, providing regulatory confidence for global deployment. The device also features IP20 protection on coil terminals and IP10 on main terminals, supporting safe operation in standard industrial environments.
ABB’s AFC/AFC40 platform uses a block design that accommodates add-on auxiliary contact blocks and a wide array of accessories. This enables the control circuit to expand without replacing the main contactor, improving control logic flexibility and reducing total cost of ownership for evolving automation needs.
Ensure proper torque on terminals (4 N·m main circuit, 1.2 N·m control circuit) and use correct ferrule or rigid conductor sizes. The 3 W per pole (AC-1) or 1 W per pole (AC-3) coil loss reduces heat in enclosures, enhancing reliability. DIN-rail mounting and screw-terminal design simplify maintenance, slashing service time and downtime in high-volume production lines.
