Part Number: 1SBL357010R7211
Quick Summary
AF50 DC contactor is used to switch 3‑phase motors in 690 V AC power circuits. The coil interface accepts a wide control voltage range, helping you cope with local voltage fluctuations and interruptions. This product carries critical certifications, including IEC/EN 60947‑4‑1, UL 508, and CE marking, enabling global compliance and easier procurement. In addition to safety compliance, its compact 3‑pole block design with front and side mounted auxiliary contacts simplifies panel layouts, while DIN rail mounting (TH35-15 or TH75-25) reduces installation time. Businesses benefit from improved energy efficiency and reduced downtime thanks to precise switching, low power loss, and reliable operation across temperature and supply variations.
Product Information
Extended Description
1SBL357010R7211 ABB: AF50 contactors are mainly used for controlling 3-phase motors and generally for controlling power circuits up to 690 V AC and 220 V DC. The contactors can also be used for many other applications such as bypass, capacitor switching, lighting, DC power circuits... The AF... contactors are fitted with an electronic coil interface which accepts a wide control voltage range, on AC 50/60 Hz or DC supplies. The same contactor can accept various supply voltages according to the different countries where the electrical equipment will be installed, or some fluctuation in the control voltage due to the local supply or network. The AF... contactors are also fully suitable for operation in AC or DC control circuit liable to voltage interruptions or voltage dip risks. Advantages: - Wide voltage range, e.g. 100 ... 250 V AC and DC - Can manage large voltage variations - Reduced power consumption - Very distinct closing and opening - Noise free - Can withstand voltage interruptions or voltage dips in the control supply (≤ 20 ms). The AF... series 1-stack 3-pole contactors are of the block type design. - Main poles and auxiliary contact blocks: 3 main poles, front and side-mounted add-on auxiliary contact blocks - Control circuit: AC or DC operated - Accessories: a wide range of accessories is available.

FAQs
Mount the AF50 block contactor on standard DIN rails TH35-15 or TH75-25 and use ring-tongue terminals for coil and main terminals. Coil operates from DC 20–60 V, with three main contacts and one auxiliary contact. Ensure proper terminal torque and observe IP20 protection for coil and auxiliary terminals. This configuration supports quick panel integration and reliable coil operation even in variable supply conditions.
AC-3 ratings cover motor starting and switching at voltages up to 690 V, with typical Ie values around 50–53 A at 380–440–500 V and decreasing at higher voltages. DC-13 ratings (load in series with DC loads) include substantial currents at lower DC voltages, such as 110 V and 72 V configurations, with corresponding Ie depends on the exact pole configuration. Refer to the device table for exact current values at each voltage and temperature to ensure safe selection.
Yes, the 1SBL357010R7211 AF50 block contactor is designed for 690 V main circuits and provides 690 V auxiliary voltages as part of its control system. It supports broad temperature ranges and a high Ui (insulation voltage) of 1000 V, making it suitable for HVAC and conveyor applications where reliable motor switching and voltage tolerance are essential. Ensure adherence to the applicable standards and proper wiring practices for your specific installation.
The device complies with IEC/EN 60947-4-1 and 60947-5-1 standards, UL 508, CSA C22.2 No. 14, CE (EU), and UKCA markings, plus EAC, GOST, and KC where applicable. These certifications support global product deployment, simplify cross-border procurement, and help satisfy regulatory requirements for industrial automation equipment in many regions. Always verify the certifications applicable to your country and installation site to ensure full conformity.
Benefits include low power loss (0.1 W per pole under test conditions), reducing heat generation and cooling needs. The wide DC coil range minimizes spare parts and improves compatibility with varying control electronics. Its robust insulation (Ui 1000 V, Uimp 8 kV), compact DIN-rail mounting, and reliable AC-3/DC-3 performance translate to longer motor life, reduced downtime, and lower total cost of ownership in repetitive switching environments.
