ABB AF52-30-22-14 Contactor - 690V UL 60335-2-40
Part Number: 1SBL367001R1422
Quick Summary
ABB AF52-30-22-14 Contactor is a 3-pole motor control device for AC-3/AC-1 applications. In environments with voltage variations, its wide coil voltage range helps maintain reliable operation and reduces nuisance tripping. It carries IEC/EN 60947-1, IEC/EN 60947-4-1 and UL 60335-2-40 certifications, with CSA and other approvals expanding global compatibility. By integrating surge protection and a compact block design, it minimizes panel footprint while delivering robust performance. This combination supports predictable uptime, lower wiring complexity, and better total cost of ownership for industrial drives, pumps, and conveyors.
Product Information
Extended Description
1SBL367001R1422 ABB: The AF52-30-22-14 is a 3 pole - 690 V IEC or 600 UL contactor with pre-mounted auxiliary contacts and screw terminals, controlling motors up to 22 kW / 400 V AC (AC-3) or 40 hp / 480 V UL and switching power circuits up to 100 A (AC-1) or 80 A UL general use. Thanks to the AF technology, the contactor has a wide control voltage range (250-500 V 50/60 Hz and DC), managing large control voltage variations, reducing panel energy consumptions and ensuring distinct operations in unstable networks. Furthermore, surge protection is built-in, offering a compact solution. AF contactors have a block type design, can be easily extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks and an additional wide range of accessories.

FAQs
This contactor supports mounting on TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rails and uses screw terminals for wiring. Main circuit connections accept flexible ferrule 1/2x 6–35 mm², with a recommended tightening torque up to 4 N·m. Auxiliary circuit wiring accepts ferrule 0.75–2.5 mm². Wiring best practices include keeping conductors short and following the 10 mm stripping length guidance to ensure reliable connections.
For AC-1 at 690 V, the device provides up to 100 A at 40 °C (80 A at 60 °C and 70 A at 70 °C). For AC-3, ratings vary by voltage: at 415–440–690 V the contactor handles up to 53 A (with de-ratings at higher ambient temperatures). These values enable motor control of up to about 22–30 kW, depending on supply and voltage.
Yes. The AF52-30-22-14 includes built-in surge protection, which helps guard the coil and control circuitry against voltage spikes. This reduces the need for external surge suppression components and contributes to longer coil life and improved system reliability in environments with electrical transients.
The unit is compliant with IEC/EN 60947-1 and IEC/EN 60947-4-1, and it carries UL 60335-2-40 and CSA certifications. Additional declarations and certifications cover CE, UKCA, CB, CCC and others, reflecting broad regulatory acceptance for global deployment in industrial electrical installations.
The contactor supports up to 3600 mechanical cycles per hour and up to 1200 electrical cycles per hour in AC-3 operation, with a maximum short-time withstand current (Icw) rated for rapid surge handling. This translates to reliable cycling for typical conveyor and pump duty cycles, while maintaining stable performance in demanding drive applications.
