Product Information

Extended Description

1SFL427062R1122 ABB: The AF116B-30-22RT-11 is a 3 pole - 690 V IEC or 600 V UL contactor with pre-mounted auxiliary contacts and ring tongue ferrules, controlling motors up to 55 kW / 400 V AC (AC-3) or 75 hp / 480 V UL and switching power circuits up to 160 A (AC-1) or 160 A UL general use. Thanks to the AF technology, the contactor has a wide control voltage range (24-60 V 50/60 Hz and 20-60 V DC), managing large control voltage variations, reducing panel energy consumptions and ensuring distinct operations in unstable networks. Furthermore, surge protection is built-in, offering a compact solution. AF contactors have a block type design, can be easily extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks and an additional wide range of accessories.

The 3-pole AF-contactor design delivers a wide control voltage range (24-60 V AC, 50/60 Hz; 20-60 V DC), which reduces control-supply sensitivity and minimizes energy waste in fluctuating networks. Business impact: lowers panel heat losses and extends component life, enabling more predictable machine uptime in line conveyors, pumps, and fans. Application: motor protection and control for IEC/EN 60947-4-1 driven circuits, up to 690 V main circuit and 160 A for AC-1 operation. The coil design also provides reliable pull-in at varying voltages, improving start-up reliability in microgrid or remote sites. The built-in surge protection adds resilience against transients, reducing nuisance trips and maintenance costs in HVAC or material-handling systems.

FAQs

This 3PABB Block Contactor features a block-style design with pre-mounted auxiliary contacts (2 NO / 2 NC) and compatibility for add-on auxiliary contact blocks. The net dimensions are 90 mm width, 126 mm depth, and 150 mm height, enabling compact installation in standard control panels and easy wiring through the main circuit bars.
For AC-1 operation at 690 V, the device supports up to 160 A at 40 °C, 145 A at 60 °C, and 130 A at 70 °C. For AC-3 operation, ratings vary by voltage: up to 116 A at 415/440/500 V and down to 65 A at 690 V. This makes it suitable for high-demand motor switching with robust breaking and making capacities.
Yes. The 3P contactor is designed for motor protection and control in conveyors, pumps, and HVAC systems. Its AF technology provides a wide control voltage range, reducing panel energy consumption, while the compact form factor and add-on blocks support scalable automation in space-constrained equipment. It also features built-in surge protection to withstand network transients.
Key certifications include CE and UL/CSA General Use ratings, UKCA, CCC, and EAC. These ensure compliance with European, North American, UK, and regional standards for safety and performance in industrial control panels. For regulated environments, these certifications support electrical zoning, product traceability, and customer procurement requirements.
AF technology provides a wide control voltage range that tolerates supply variations, reducing coil stress and panel losses. This translates to longer service life, fewer nuisance trips, and lower maintenance costs. The unit’s mechanical durability (up to 5 million cycles) and modular design further reduce downtime and enable straightforward part replacement or expansion in growing automation projects.
