Extended Description

1SFL447001N1111 ABB: The AF140N4-30-11-11 NEMA Contactor is a 3 pole - 1000 V IEC or 600 V UL contactor with double clamp, controlling motors up to 75 kW / 400 V AC (AC-3) or 100 hp / 480 V UL 200 A (AC-1) or 200 A UL general use. Thanks to the AF technology, the contactor has a wide control voltage range (24-60 V 50/60 Hz, 20-60 V DC), managing large control voltage variations, reducing panel energy consumptions and ensuring distinct operations in unstable networks. Furthermore, surge protection is built-in, offering a compact solution. AF contactors have a block type design, can be easily extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks and an additional wide range of accessories.

FAQs

Installation involves mounting the block contactor, wiring the main circuit with 2 x 10 to 95 mm² or flexible 1 x 10 to 70 mm² conductors, and connecting the coil to 24–60 V AC/DC as appropriate. The double clamp terminals simplify secure connections, while the 1 auxiliary NO/NC contact supports coaching signals for interlocks. Always follow IEC 60947-4-1 guidelines and tighten torques to spec to minimize contact resistance and heating.
For AC-3 duty, the AF140N4-30-11-11 supports approximately 140 A at 380–400 V and 140 A at 415–440 V, with 130 A at 500 V, and 80 A at 690 V. This aligns with motor start/stop loads in standard industrial motors up to about 75 kW at 400 V, enabling compact, cost-efficient motor control solutions in automation lines.
Yes, the AF140N4-30-11-11 is rated for main circuit voltages up to 1000 V and supports 690 V systems with appropriate current ratings. The coil operates in 24–60 V range for both AC and DC operation, allowing flexible integration with existing control logic and simplifying retrofits without additional power conversions.
This Contactor carries IEC 60947-1 / 60947-4-1 and EN 60947-1 / 60947-4-1, UL 508, and CSA N°14, along with CE, RoHS, REACH, and WEEE declarations. These certifications support safe installation across Europe, North America, and global OEM environments, reducing risk during audits and ensuring interoperability with other safety components.
Benefits include reduced energy waste due to AF technology, fewer panel variations thanks to wide control voltage tolerance, and lower downtime from built-in surge protection. The compact design and extendable auxiliary contacts simplify upgrades and maintenance, delivering faster installation, easier diagnostics, and a favorable total cost of ownership over motor control solutions.
