Feature → Business Impact → Application: The AF190-30-11-42 uses a 3-pole main circuit rated up to 1000 V, delivering strong, dependable switching for heavy motor loads. This translates to lower downtime and more predictable plant performance in drives and conveyors; ideal for machine builders and panel builders who require robust control in automation projects. The integrated surge protection and AF technology improve reliability in networks with voltage fluctuations, reducing nuisance tripping and maintenance costs while supporting compliant motor control in process lines. Application-wise, this block contactor fits standard control circuits and can be extended with add-on auxiliary blocks, enabling tailored control schemes without redesigning the panel. The compact block design saves panel space and simplifies installation, wiring, and service, which shortens commissioning times for industrial applications. With a coil voltage range of 110–120 V at 50/60 Hz, it aligns with common regional control architectures, ensuring quick pull-in and stable hold. Measured power loss of 15 W per pole under AC-1 and 7 W per pole under AC-3 supports energy-conscious panel design. The device supports both AC-1 and AC-3 operating regimes, providing flexibility for starter and motor protection duties across 415–1000 V systems. Industry users appreciate the standard DIN-rail or panel mounting compatibility and the CERTIFIED UL/CSA listing, which streamlines procurement and compliance processes.

FAQs
What mounting and wiring considerations are needed to install the AF190-30-11-42 Contactor in standard control panels? It supports block-type installation with main circuit bars and requires torque of 14-31 N·m on main circuit connections. Include auxiliary contact blocks as needed and follow the coil voltage range of 110-120 V at 50/60 Hz for reliable pull-in. Also verify IP20 rated coil terminals and IP00 main terminals for safe operation.
What are the essential electrical ratings for this model and how do they translate to performance? The device handles up to 1000 V main circuit insulation, AC-1 current up to 250 A, AC-3 up to 190 A at 60 °C, and power ratings around 110 kW at various voltages. With a 3P configuration and 3 main NO contacts plus 1 NO/1 NC auxiliary contact, it supports typical motor starting and protection schemes with built-in surge protection.
Yes, within its specified ambient range and derating guidance. The coil terminals offer IP20 protection and the unit is rated for operation from −25 to 70 °C depending on the installed accessories, with a max altitude of up to 3000 m without derating. This makes it suitable for standard industrial floors and outdoor-rated panels when housed properly.
Which standards apply to this contactor? The AF190-30-11-42 is CE and UL/CSA listed with a CE Declaration of Conformity and UL/cULus certificate. UKCA is also supported for appropriate regions. RoHS, REACH, and WEEE compliance are indicated, along with environmentally conscious disclosures in ABB EcoSolutions data, supporting regulatory approval and sustainability reporting.
The device reduces energy consumption with built-in surge protection and low per-pole power loss (15 W AC-1, 7 W AC-3). Its block design and compatibility with add-on auxiliary blocks simplify maintenance and future expansion, lowering lifecycle costs. The high durability (up to 5 million mechanical operations) plus compact footprint decreases downtime and panel space, delivering measurable ROI in automation projects.
