ABB AF190B-40-22-11 Contactor - 4P, 1000V UL/cUL Listed
Part Number: 1SFL487263R1122
Quick Summary
ABB AF190B-40-22-11 Contactor is a four-pole motor starter that delivers reliable control for high‑power drives in manufacturing environments. Fluctuating control voltages can cause panel energy waste and unpredictable motor operation; this AF technology maintains performance across voltage variations and reduces panel heat. It carries CE conformity for Europe, UL/cUL listing for North America, and UKCA for the UK, with RoHS and REACH declarations ensuring broad regulatory compliance. The combination of compact AF design and add-on accessory compatibility translates into faster assembly, easier maintenance, and lower total cost of ownership for automated lines, conveyors, and process equipment.
Product Information
Extended Description
1SFL487263R1122 ABB: The AF190B-40-22-11 is a 4 pole - 1000 V IEC or 600 V UL contactor with pre-mounted auxiliary contacts and standard ferrules, controlling motors up to 90 kW / 400 V AC (AC-3) / and switching power circuits up to 275 A (AC-1) or 230 A UL general use. Thanks to the AF technology, the contactor has a wide control voltage range (24-60 V 50/60 Hz and 20-60 V DC), managing large control voltage variations, reducing panel energy consumptions and ensuring distinct operations in unstable networks. Furthermore, surge protection is built-in, offering a compact solution. AF contactors have a block type design, can be easily extended with add-on auxiliary contact blocks and an additional wide range of accessories.

FAQs
To install the AF190B-40-22-11, mount the device in the dedicated panel space and connect the four main circuit bars to the incoming and outgoing motor conductors. Attach the two auxiliary NO and two NC contacts as required for your control logic. Use the pre-mounted ferrules for secure wiring and reference the 24-60 VAC/20-60 VDC coil options to match your control voltage. Verify the coil polarity if using DC and test with a low-current pilot run before full load operation.
For AC‑3 operation, the AF190B-40-22-11 is rated up to 190 A at 415–690 V. For AC‑1 operation, it supports up to 275 A at 690 V and 250 A at 1000 V, with similar 40–70 °C derating. These values enable reliable starting of motors with typical IEC/UL motor ratings while maintaining safe thermal margins in factory environments.
Yes. The AF190B-40-22-11 features a wide coil voltage range—24–60 V AC / 20–60 V DC—and accepts 50/60 Hz control signals, making it compatible with diverse PLC outputs and relay logic. This flexibility reduces the need for extra voltage conditioning modules and helps maintain stable operation in systems with fluctuating control voltages.
The device is CE compliant for European markets and UL/cUL listed for North American use, with additional UKCA marking for the UK and RoHS/REACH declarations. These certifications ensure safety, interoperability, and regulatory alignment across major global regions, simplifying supplier qualification and installation demonstrations.
Expect a low-maintenance profile due to robust mechanical durability (around 5 million operations) and integrated surge protection that reduces external protection parts. The ability to extend with add-on auxiliary contact blocks minimizes wiring changes for future upgrades. The energy-efficient AF technology and compact footprint contribute to lower panel heat, reduced energy losses, and shorter commissioning times, delivering favorable total cost of ownership.
