The four-pole AF190B-40-22-12 Contactor delivers robust motor control for industrial drives, enabling reliable starting and stopping of large loads while delivering measurable efficiency benefits. Its main circuit is rated up to 1000 V, with current handling up to 250 A at 1000 V (AC-1) and 190 A at 690–415 V (AC-3), ensuring suitability for motors up to the 90 kW class. The coil accepts 48–130 V across AC and DC, reducing panel energy consumption and simplifying plant interlocks in networks with voltage variations. Built-in surge protection protects downstream electronics and extends contact life, while pre-mounted auxiliary contacts (two NO and two NC) streamline wiring and reduce installation time. The block-type AF design is easily extended with add-on blocks, supporting scalable control architectures in evolving plants. Practically, this means lower maintenance costs, faster upgrades, and better line uptime in conveyors, pumps, and presses. Industry context shows that such features translate to tangible reductions in downtime and energy waste while maintaining high safety margins. Compatibility with CAD, manuals, and spare parts simplifies procurement and engineering workstreams for system integrators and maintenance teams.

FAQs

This ABB block contactor uses a 4P main circuit with a 140 mm width and 153 mm depth footprint, designed for panel mounting with a bar-type main connection. It ships with pre-mounted auxiliary contacts (2 NO, 2 NC) and can be expanded using add-on auxiliary contact blocks to fit evolving control architectures. The coil supports 48–130 V AC/DC, enabling flexible integration with diverse control voltages.
For AC-3 operation at 415–690 V, the contactor is rated 190 A, while AC-1 operation at 1000 V up to 250 A is supported. DC-1/DC-3 ratings vary by voltage and configuration, with multiple series combinations listed (e.g., 100 V and 110–260 V ranges) to match motor and drive requirements. The device is designed to meet general-use UL/CSA ratings up to 250 A and supports motor control up to 90 kW at appropriate voltages.
Yes, it is engineered for reliable operation in industrial environments. It includes surge protection in the coil design to manage voltage transients and protect downstream equipment. The AF technology enables a wide control voltage range, helping maintain performance in networks with voltage fluctuations. Its robust 4P configuration and modular accessory options support durable, long-life motor control in demanding applications.
The product carries CE and UKCA declarations, UL requirements for general use, and RoHS/REACH compliance statements. It is listed for UL/CSA and has European conformity documentation, including CE declarations. Additional certifications and declarations address CCC, EAC, and other regional compliance as applicable to global deployments.
The AF190B-40-22-12 reduces maintenance through high mechanical durability (millions of cycles) and low energy consumption in the control circuit (4–15 W per pole holding/pull-in scenarios). Built-in surge protection and modular auxiliary blocks simplify spare parts stocking and future upgrades. This translates to lower downtime, easier diagnostics, and a longer replacement interval for motor control in conveyors, pumps, and similar lines.
