The AF190B-40-22-14 uses AF technology to tolerate a broad control voltage range (250-500 V at 50/60 Hz) and to manage large control voltage variations, reducing panel energy consumption and improving reliability in variable networks. This translates to real business impact: fewer trips, lower energy waste, and simplified stocking for global installations. In practice, the device integrates surge protection within a compact, 4P block envelope, saving panel space and reducing the need for additional protective devices in heavy-duty motor start-ups. With 2 NO and 2 NC auxiliary contacts pre-mounted, it enables robust interlocking schemes and streamlined wiring, cutting installation time and potential wiring errors. The four main NO contacts (4P) handle motors up to 90 kW at 400 V AC (AC-3), while still offering high short-time withstand performance and reliable endurance under demanding industrial cycles. Its modular block design supports add-on auxiliary blocks and a wide range of accessories, delivering scalable control solutions for conveyors, pumps, fans, and presses. The device's 1000 V main circuit rating and UL general-use specification (250 A) provide a clear, standards-aligned path for OEMs and panel builders seeking compliant, future-ready motor control. In terms of efficiency, the coil consumption and 15 W per pole power loss translate to lower energy draw during hold and switching, contributing to reduced total cost of ownership over the product life cycle. This combination of robust electrical performance and practical installation advantages makes the AF190B-40-22-14 well suited for demanding manufacturing environments that require dependable, scalable control components with proven compliance.

FAQs
This ABB four-pole contactor is designed for standard 4P panel installations with main circuit bars and pre-mounted auxiliary contacts. It supports add-on auxiliary blocks for expanded control circuits and straightforward wiring. Ensure correct wiring of the 2 NO and 2 NC auxiliaries to achieve desired interlocking and signaling functions, while observing the 250-500 V control voltage range.
For AC-3 operation, the contactor handles up to 190 A at 415-690 V, with 110 kW to 132 kW typical motor outputs depending on voltage. It also provides AC-1 ratings up to 275 A at 690 V. These figures support reliable short-circuit and motor-start performance in pumps, fans, and conveyors.
Yes, the coil is designed for a wide 250-500 V control voltage range at 50/60 Hz and also supports DC operation within the same range. This makes the AF190B-40-22-14 adaptable to mixed-control systems and ensures robust operation in environments with voltage fluctuations.
The AF190B-40-22-14 carries CE and UKCA marks, UL/cUL certification for General Use, and EAC compliance. It also aligns with RoHS, REACH and WEEE requirements, plus additional certifications such as CCC, CQC, CB where applicable, ensuring broad regulatory acceptance.
Expect reduced downtime due to built-in surge protection, a longer service life from 5 million mechanical operations, and lower energy draw with 15 W power loss per pole. The modular design and compatibility with auxiliary blocks simplify upgrades and layout changes, delivering cost savings on maintenance and panel space over the product lifecycle.
