AF technology with wide control voltage range delivers reliable switching under fluctuating supply conditions, reducing panel energy consumption and improving system stability in motor control circuits. This translates to fewer nuisance trips and lower energy costs over the life of the installation. The three-pole main circuit rated up to 1000 V supports motors up to 132 kW at 400 V AC (AC-3), making it suitable for demanding industrial drives while maintaining compact form. Built-in surge protection adds a margin of safety against voltage transients, reducing wear on contacts and extending service intervals in noisy electrical environments. The block-type design enables modular expansion with auxiliary contact blocks and a broad accessories ecosystem, simplifying retrofit projects and lifecycle maintenance. Compatibility with IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, UL 508 and CSA C22.2 N°14 ensures broad acceptance across standards-driven facilities. Connection options include flexible and rigid conductors up to 240 mm², improving installation versatility in panel layouts. A robust 3.9 kg body and IP20 coil terminals paired with IP00 main terminals support dependable operation in normal industrial environments, while the coil consumption figures help engineers quantify total control-power budgets. The product’s energy efficiency credentials are enhanced by ABB EcoSolutions, including end-of-life disassembly guidance and a 76.3% recyclability target, supporting sustainable plant operations. Finally, the ability to reuse or replace add-on contact blocks minimizes downtime and lowers total cost of ownership in multi-motor applications.

FAQs
Installation follows standard motor-control practice for three-pole block contactors. Connect main circuit conductors to the main terminals rated for up to 1000 V using 2 x 70-185 mm² flexible or 185-240 mm² rigid cables as specified. Wire the coil to 100-250 V control supply (AC or DC as supported). Ensure tightening torques of 22-43 N·m on main circuit lugs and observe IP20 coil terminal protection. Use auxiliary contacts per your control logic and respect the 0 to 70 °C ambient limits for reliable operation.
Key specs include a three-pole main circuit rated up to 1000 V and ops at 50/60 Hz, with AC-3 Ie up to 265-350 A depending on voltage and temperature, and AC-1 currents up to 400 A. The device features built-in surge protection, a 3 NO main contacts plus 1 NO and 1 NC auxiliary contact, and a rated insulation voltage of 1000 V. It supports up to 132 kW at 400 V AC in AC-3 service.
Yes, it is designed for AC-3 motor loads with a rated performance of up to 132 kW at 400 V AC, enabling efficient star-delta or direct-on-line motor starting in factories and process lines. Benefits include reduced energy fluctuations via AF technology, integrated surge protection, compact modular design, and easy expansion with auxiliary blocks for control signaling, ensuring reliable startup and protection for heavy-duty drives.
The contactor complies with IEC 60947-1 and 60947-4-1, EN 60947-1 and 60947-4-1, UL 508, and CSA C22.2 N°14. It carries CE Declaration of Conformity and RoHS/REACH declarations, and ABB EcoSolutions support end-of-life recycling and energy-efficiency considerations within industrial installations.
ROI benefits come from reduced panel energy consumption due to the AF wide-range control voltage, fewer nuisance trips in unstable networks, lower maintenance due to surge protection and robust construction, and scalable protection with add-on auxiliary blocks. The combination of higher reliability, lower standby power, and longer mechanical life (up to 5 million cycles) translates to lower downtime and total cost of ownership over time.
