FAQs
The ABB AF370B-40-22-11 is a four-pole block contactor designed for 1000 V main circuits and AC-1/AC-3 motor control. It supports pre-mounted auxiliary contacts (2 NO and 2 NC) and add-on blocks. Wire the main circuit via bars, connect the coil to 24–60 V AC or 20–60 V DC, and use the auxiliary contacts for interlocking and PLC signaling. Follow standard motor starter practices for safe, reliable operation.
Key specs include four main contacts (NO), rated operational currents up to 525 A AC-3 at 690 V, 400 A AC-1 at 690 V, and a 1000 V insulation rating. The coil accepts 24–60 V AC (50/60 Hz) or 20–60 V DC, with a coil consumption of 8.5 VA holding and 475 VA pull-in. It offers built-in surge protection and a compact, modular design suitable for high-load motor control.
Yes, it is well-suited for conveyors, pumps, and processing equipment due to its four-pole design, high-current ratings, and AC-3 motor switching capability. The AF technology provides broad control voltage tolerance, reducing wiring complexity and energy waste. Its modular accessory system allows quick customization for signaling, interlocking, and safe motor control in demanding industrial environments.
The AF370B contactor carries UL/CSA General Use ratings, CE and UKCA declarations, RoHS and REACH compliance, EAC certification, and other pertinent declarations (EC/CCC as applicable). This ensures suitability for global deployment across North America, Europe, and selected international markets, meeting standard safety and environmental requirements for electrical equipment.
With a mechanical durability of 5 million cycles and a maximum switching rate of 300 cycles per hour, the AF370B minimizes replacing parts in high-cycle lines. Energy-efficient AF technology reduces panel heat and operating costs, while the modular design and auxiliary contact options simplify maintenance and future upgrades. Overall, this translates to lower maintenance downtime and favorable ROI in automation projects.
