ABB 3AUA0000200450 ACS880 Extension Box - UL Listed
Part Number: 3AUA0000200450
Quick Summary
The ACS880 Extension Box adds a back-panel enclosure for the wall-mounted ACS880 drive in complex plant layouts. Installing drives often requires separate input fusing and a local disconnect, driving extra wiring and on-site labor. UL-listed configurations support standard safety practices, while fieldbus options and I/O adapters help meet regional compliance. This extension box adds value by reducing install time, improving wiring accuracy, and simplifying drive system integration with 120 V digital I/O. In practice, engineers use the extension box to consolidate protective devices, communications interfaces, and field-device power, enabling faster panel assembly, easier commissioning, and reliable long-term maintenance. The result is a scalable solution suitable for industries ranging from manufacturing to heavy process.
Product Information
Extended Description
3AUA0000200450 ABB: The ACS880 Extension Box is an ACS880-01 wall-mounted drive on a back panel with an electrical box for additional devices. Within the box are line fuses to protect the drive. Optional devices includes a local disconnect switch, control power transformer, as well as ACS880-01 options for fieldbus, in-put/output adapters, special software, etc. The extension box will save cost and simplify installation because it has the input fusing and local disconnect switch that are typically required as part of the installation. It can also provide 120V digital signal interface for stop/start motor control. It is used in a variety of industries include oil and gas, chemical, mining, material handling, pulp and paper, saw mills and cement. Applications include extruders, winches, winders, conveyors, mixers, compressors, pumps and fans. The ACS880 Extension Box is available up to 150 HP in a wall-mountable package.

FAQs
The Extension Box attaches to the back panel of the ACS880-01, providing built-in input fusing and an optional local disconnect. It accommodates 120 V digital I/O, and space for fieldbus adapters and I/O modules, enabling a compact, integrated control and protection assembly with fewer field connections and streamlined commissioning.
Plan for a dedicated enclosure area on the wall-mount panel to host the Extension Box, ensure proper clearance for fuses and disconnect hardware, and verify fieldbus/IO adapter compatibility. Use the integrated fusing to reduce external wiring, and confirm regional safety requirements map to UL-listed configurations for compliant installations.
Yes. The Extension Box is designed to support demanding industrial applications and is used across oil & gas, chemical processing, mining, material handling, and cement sectors. It simplifies installation and wiring in harsh environments by consolidating protection devices and control interfaces inside a single housing.
The product is UL-listed, providing recognized safety compliance for many regions. Regional approvals (such as CE conformity or IP-rated variants) may depend on the specific configuration and market. Always verify the version and local regulatory requirements prior to installation to ensure full compliance.
By consolidating fusing, a local disconnect, and fieldbus/I/O interfaces in one enclosure, you reduce wiring labor, minimize cabling errors, and shorten panel build times. Long-term maintenance benefits include easier access to protective devices and control interfaces, lowering downtime during routine checks and upgrades.
