Product Information
Extended Description
3AUA0000201054 ABB: The ACS880 Extension Box is an ACS880-01 wall-mounted drive on a back panel with an electrical box for additional devices. Within the box are line fuses to protect the drive. Optional devices includes a local disconnect switch, control power transformer, as well as ACS880-01 options for fieldbus, in-put/output adapters, special software, etc. The extension box will save cost and simplify installation because it has the input fusing and local disconnect switch that are typically required as part of the installation. It can also provide 120V digital signal interface for stop/start motor control. It is used in a variety of industries include oil and gas, chemical, mining, material handling, pulp and paper, saw mills and cement. Applications include extruders, winches, winders, conveyors, mixers, compressors, pumps and fans. The ACS880 Extension Box is available up to 150 HP in a wall-mountable package.
Integrated input fusing and a built‑in local disconnect switch reduce panel count and wiring time, delivering faster commissioning and improved fault isolation in installations using the ACS880-01 wall-mounted drive. The business impact is clear: lower labor costs, fewer field connections, and enhanced system safety, making it ideal for conveyors, mixers, and material handling lines. The 120V digital signal interface simplifies stop/start control from PLCs and safety interlocks, cutting integration time and enabling more reliable remote control. Optional local devices and control power transformer further streamline procurement, reducing parts variance and project risk in oil & gas, chemical, or mining applications. Fieldbus and I/O adapters options support scalable networks, enabling future-proofed automation without rework. Compatibility with industry-standard software options helps meet compliance and performance targets while enabling quick retrofit in existing lines. This solution supports up to 150 HP in a wall-mountable package, delivering space savings in compact control rooms or equipment bays. Pre-wired enclosure benefits include minimized on-site wiring errors and improved protection against dust and moisture in harsh environments. Overall, ABB’s extension box combines robustness with ease of installation to shorten project timelines and improve uptime across high-demand processes.
