ABB 3AUA0000227404 Packaged Drive - UL Type 1/12/3R Enclosure
Part Number: 3AUA0000227404
Quick Summary
The ABB ACH580 Packaged Drive delivers precise HVAC motor control for commercial and light industrial cooling systems. Facilities often face wiring complexity and space constraints when upgrading legacy drives, leading to longer commissioning times and higher risk of miswiring. It offers UL-listed protection, with NEMA Type 1, 12 or 3R enclosure options, and a door-mounted input disconnect for safe, code-compliant operation. The packaged design minimizes field wiring by integrating an input disconnect, fast-acting fuses or a circuit breaker, and electronic motor overload protection into a single unit. It supports HVAC applications such as fans, pumps, and air handling equipment, and with local control plus serial communications it enables faster commissioning, easier maintenance, and better integration with building management systems.
Product Information
Extended Description
3AUA0000227404 ABB: The ACH580 Packaged Drive includes an ACH580 drive in a UL (NEMA) Type 1, 12 or 3R enclosure with either an input disconnect switch and fast acting fuses or an input circuit breaker. It is available from 1 to 350 hp at 230/460/575 V. The ACH580 Packaged Drive provides a door-mounted input disconnect switch (padlockable in the OFF position), electronic motor overload protection, a door-mounted control panel with graphical display for local control, provisions for external control connections, and serial communications capability
Integrated UL Type 1, 12, or 3R enclosure housing the ACH580 with a door-mounted input disconnect reduces panel footprint and simplifies wiring, delivering a safer and faster installation. This packaging also includes electronic motor overload protection, which limits motor stress and reduces unplanned downtime, extending motor life and lowering maintenance costs. The door-mounted control panel with a graphical display enables intuitive local setup and troubleshooting, speeding startup and commissioning while reducing the need for external handheld devices. External control connections and serial communications support seamless integration with plant PLCs and building management systems, enabling remote monitoring, fault diagnosis, and coordinated VFD-based HVAC control. The broad horsepower and voltage range—1 to 350 HP across 230/460/575 V—offers flexible deployment for fans, pumps, and air handling units, while the integrated disconnect and fusing/circuit breaker options enhance safety and compliance. Space-saving, scalable, and easier to install, this packaged drive minimizes field wiring and enables faster ROI on HVAC projects.

FAQs
The ACH580 Packaged Drive is designed for HVAC installations and ships in a UL Type 1/12/3R enclosure with a door-mounted input disconnect. It supports 1–350 HP at 230/460/575 V and up to 144 A per model (ACH580-PDR-144A-6+B056), making it compatible with a wide range of fans, pumps, and air handling equipment in commercial and light industrial settings.
The door-mounted input disconnect provides a padlockable OFF position for safe isolation during maintenance. Combined with fast-acting fuses or a circuit breaker and electronic motor overload protection, it helps meet safety and regulatory requirements while reducing the risk of accidental startups and wiring errors during servicing.
Yes. The ACH580 Packaged Drive supports three-phase 230/460/575 V power networks and covers a broad horsepower range from 1 to 350 HP. The 144 A variant ACH580-PDR-144A-6+B056 illustrates high-current capability within this family, enabling robust control of larger HVAC motors in a single packaged solution.
The drive provides serial communications and external control connections, enabling remote monitoring and control from PLCs or building management systems. This facilitates fault monitoring, coordinated HVAC control, and data collection for energy analytics, while the local graphical panel supports on-site commissioning and diagnostics without peripheral equipment.
By consolidating control, protection, and disconnects into a single enclosure, the package reduces wiring complexity and panel space, speeding installation and commissioning. Electronic overload protection minimizes motor stress and downtime, while remote communications support improves monitoring and predictive maintenance. Overall, you can expect lower upfront labor costs and improved uptime with scalable HVAC control.
