Quick Summary

ABB ACH580 Packaged Drive is a packaged motor drive for HVAC applications, delivering reliable speed control and protection in a compact enclosure. Engineers often struggle to fit control logic, motor protection, and local operation into limited spaces while meeting safety codes. Key certifications and standards include UL listing for Type 1 indoor installations and compatible NEMA-style enclosures, plus electronic motor overload protection. By integrating the drive, disconnect, and control panel in one unit, it minimizes wiring, reduces commissioning time, and lowers total cost of ownership for building automation projects. This makes maintenance easier for service teams and improves reliability in variable-speed HVAC fans and pumps.

Product Information

Extended Description

3AUA0000227834 ABB: The ACH580 Packaged Drive includes an ACH580 drive in a UL (NEMA) Type 1, 12 or 3R enclosure with either an input disconnect switch and fast acting fuses or an input circuit breaker. It is available from 1 to 350 hp at 230/460/575 V. The ACH580 Packaged Drive provides a door-mounted input disconnect switch (padlockable in the OFF position), electronic motor overload protection, a door-mounted control panel with graphical display for local control, provisions for external control connections, and serial communications capability
Integrated enclosure and control capability means the ACH580 Packaged Drive arrives as a single, code-compliant package. This reduces wiring complexity and space requirements, helping mechanical rooms stay organized and compliant with indoor installation standards. In HVAC applications such as air handlers and rooftop units, the compact assembly accelerates installation while preserving service access for maintenance. The unit supports 230/460/575 V input and 1–350 hp drive sizing, enabling flexible selection for fans and pumps and reducing spare parts inventory. The door disconnect provides a padlockable OFF position for safer maintenance, while electronic motor overload protection guards motors from thermal damage and trips to prevent costly faults. Local control is facilitated by a door-mounted graphical display, with external control connections and serial communications for network integration. These features translate to measurable efficiency gains and faster commissioning without sacrificing safety or reliability. In retrofit scenarios, the packaged approach minimizes downtime and simplifies documentation for compliance audits.
