Product Information
Extended Description
3AUD0000003151 ABB: The ACH580-31 ultra-low harmonic drive with ABB E-Clipse bypass has an integrated UL (NEMA) Type 1, 12 or 3R enclosure with a bypass motor starter and is available from 1 to 400 hp at 460 V. The ACH580-31 ultra-low harmonic drive with ABB E-Clipse bypass provides an input disconnect switch or circuit breaker, both including fast acting drive fuses, with door mounted and interlocked switch (padlockable in the OFF position), a bypass starter, electronic motor overload protection, a door mounted control panel with graphical display for local control, provisions for external control connections, and serial communications capability.
Ultra-low harmonic design reduces harmonic distortion at the source, improving power quality and reducing electrical strain on HVAC equipment. The ACH580-31 delivers smoother operation for fans, pumps, and air handlers, translating into measurable energy efficiency gains and lower lifecycle costs. In practice, this drive helps building services teams meet utility harmonics limits while maintaining dependable HVAC performance. Integrated ABB E-Clipse bypass with bypass starter simplifies maintenance and minimizes downtime. With electronic motor overload protection and a fast-acting drive fuse set, fault protection remains robust while service work proceeds safely. The enclosure integrates these features in a door-mounted panel, easing local control and on-site configuration for installers. Enclosure options include UL and NEMA-type configurations that support a wide range of installation environments from equipment rooms to outdoor enclosures. The combination of Type 1, Type 12 or Type 3R enclosures with a padlockable OFF switch enhances safety and code compliance for HVAC installations. This flexibility reduces site-specific customization and speeds up procurement. Local control panel with a graphical display, external control connections, and serial communications enable smooth integration with building automation and energy-management systems. These capabilities support scalable control architectures and remote monitoring, helping facilities managers optimize performance and maintenance planning. Power range from 1 to 400 hp at 460 V gives engineers a single, versatile solution for large fans and pumps across commercial and light-industrial HVAC applications. The ACH580-31 aligns with ABB's reliability history and provides predictable performance, even under fluctuating loads and start-up transients.
