Product Information
Extended Description
3AXD50000428311 ABB: The ACQ580-34 drives deliver innovative pump and blower features for the water and wastewater industry, securing energy efficient flow of water and wastewater in your pumping solutions. The ultra-low harmonic variant provides ultimate harmonic performance, reaching even less than 3 % THDi, and exceeding the requirements set by low harmonic standards and recommendations. The drive includes an active supply unit and integrated low harmonic line filter, meaning there is no need for external filters, multi-pulse arrangements or special transformers.
Other features include output voltage boost and power factor correction. This robust and compact drive module has built-in pump application functionality such as sensorless flow calculation, multipump control, level control, soft pipe fill, dry run protection, quick ramps and a solution for keeping the impeller of the pump clean. Usability is further enhanced with the intuitive Hand-Off-Auto control panel, the PC tool Drive composer and an optional Bluetooth=C2=AE control panel. The ultra-low harmonic drive module variant comes in IP00 enclosure as standard and is installed into a cabinet. Also, IP20 enclosure is available.
Ultra-low harmonic performance directly reduces electrical waste and grid distortion, delivering tangible energy savings and longer motor life in wastewater pumping trains. The design achieves THDi below 3 percent, enabling compliant operation in sensitive electrical environments and reducing transformer sizing needs. Built-in active supply unit with an integrated low harmonic line filter eliminates the need for external filters or complex multi-pulse arrangements, cutting installation time and capital expenditure. Output voltage boost and power factor correction further optimize system efficiency, allowing smaller feeders and better overall plant performance for pumps and blowers. Sensorless flow calculation, multipump control, level control, soft pipe fill, and dry-run protection elevate process reliability and process control, yielding fewer outages and improved compliance with process targets. The Hand-Off-Auto control panel, Drive Composer PC tool, and optional Bluetooth interface simplify commissioning and on-site tuning, reducing field support requirements. IP00 standard enclosure with available IP20 option supports cabinet integration in existing control architectures, delivering a compact, scalable solution with proven ABB compatibility and long-term serviceability.

FAQs
The drive module is designed for cabinet installation with IP00 standard enclosure and IP20 option, allowing straightforward integration into common pump house cabinets. It includes an integrated active supply unit and low harmonic line filter, which reduces wiring complexity and eliminates the need for external filters, multi-pulse transformers, or external line reactors in many applications.
This ultra-low harmonic variant achieves THDi well below 3%, which minimizes grid distortion, reduces heating and EMI in the drive and motor, and lowers the risk of motor insulation damage. The improved power quality translates to longer bearing life and more stable motor operation in continuous pumping duties.
Yes. The drive includes sensorless flow calculation and multipump control features, enabling coordinated pump sequencing, soft-start/stop, and level control. These capabilities support efficient operation of multi-pump networks, reducing cycling losses and enabling optimized duty cycling in water and wastewater facilities.
The module is CE compliant and UL-listed for applicable configurations. Enclosure options include IP00 as standard and IP20 as an available upgrade, facilitating safe cabinet installation in diverse plant environments while meeting regulatory requirements.
Expect reduced energy consumption due to harmonic suppression, simplified installation with integrated components, and fewer external components to maintain. ROI gains come from lower energy bills, reduced downtime, shorter commissioning times with Drive Composer, and improved process reliability in municipal pumping and treatment workflows.
