Rittal 7030202 CMC III Access Control - 2 x RJ45 CAN bus
Part Number: 7030202
Quick Summary
CMC III Access Control is a compact unit that manages and monitors enclosure access for industrial applications. It enables secure entry by connecting one handle and one reader unit to a CMC III Processing Unit, with the ability to link handles to codes or transponder cards. This design reduces admin overhead and simplifies credential management across multiple doors in a plant. The system records every access event with user data and a time stamp, while an integral infrared sensor confirms the door status in real time. While the data sheet does not list certifications, when available verify CE compliance and any IP-related protection marks appropriate for your enclosure environment. For procurement teams, this module pairs with Rittal enclosures and mounting hardware, delivering scalable, auditable access control with low total cost of ownership.

Product description
CMC III unit for controlling and monitoring access to enclosures. One handle and one reader unit may be connected to one CMC III access control. The handles can be linked to various numerical codes or transponder cards via the CMC III Processing Unit/Compact website, which means that all the handles connected to a CMC III Processing Unit/Compact can be controlled with just one reader unit. The integral infrared sensor also ensures that the status of the controlled door (open/closed) is monitored.
Function principle
For connecting one handle and one reader unit to monitor a door

FAQs
Installation is straightforward on standard Rittal enclosures. Mount the CMC III unit using the supplied mounting plate and assembly parts, then connect one handle and one reader to the unit. Use the 2 x RJ45 CAN bus to network the CMC III Processing Unit or PU Compact, and wire the RJ12 interface for control signals. Confirm operating temperature and humidity range during setup.
Key performance specs include article number DK 7030.202, dimensions Width 110 mm, Height 30 mm, Depth 40 mm, and operating range 0 to 55 °C with 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity. The system supports one handle and one reader per unit with up to 16 participating PUs, up to 5 users per IoT interface, and 2 PU compact connections, enabling scalable access control across multiple doors.
Yes. The CMC III Access Control is designed for secure cabinet and enclosure access in manufacturing, data centers, and automation environments. It provides an auditable access trail, door status via infrared sensing, and centralized credential management. Use cases include high-security cabinets, test rigs, and distributed control panels where compliant access control and event logging are mandatory.
Certification considerations depend on location and application. The provided data does not list formal certifications; confirm CE marking and any IP protection ratings or SIL requirements with your supplier. For safety-critical installations, ensure the processing units, readers, and mounting hardware are vetted for your machine safety standards and industry regulations.
Maintenance is minimal due to modular components and clear event logs. Regular checks should cover mounting hardware and sensor integrity, with firmware updates as available. The auditable access trails enable quicker investigations and lower security risk, delivering ROI through reduced incidents and easier multi-door deployment with predictable total cost of ownership.
