About this Product

The AMTECS 0.18kW (0.25HP) Three Phase Motor is a high-performance aluminium three-phase brake motor designed for applications where the motor must stop quickly and safely, such as machine tools, packaging machinery, woodworking equipment, construction machinery and gearboxes (not suitable for hoists). This 4-Pole (1500 rpm) three-phase motor runs on a standard UK 230/400V three-phase supply and features a robust Aluminium 63 frame with B3 - Foot mounting for flexible installation.

Built to industrial standards with IP55 protection, insulation class F (class B temperature rise) and NSK bearings with cast-iron drive-end shields from frame 100 upwards, it offers long service life in demanding environments. The integrated DC brake (110 V DC for 230/400 V motors and 186 V DC for 400/690 V motors via half-wave rectifier) provides rapid, controlled stopping for improved safety and process control.

Rated IE2 efficiency in line with ECO Design Rule 2019/1781, this motor replaces older IE2 units (0.75 kW and above) with energy-saving IE3 performance, reducing running costs versus single-phase motors. Removable feet allow right or left-hand terminal box positions and multiple mounting options (IM B3, B5, B14S, B34L, B35, B34S, B34L, B5R), making it easy to retrofit into existing installations.

Three Phase Motor FAQs

Electric motors are normally supplied from the factory wired for clockwise rotation when looking at the drive shaft end. This is the standard factory configuration for most single-phase and three-phase motors.

To confirm the frame size, measure the height from the centre of the motor shaft to the base of the foot, in millimetres. This measurement should correspond to standard frame designations like 71, 80, or 90. Most UK & European electric motors follow IEC frame standards.

A 2-pole motor runs at approximately 3000 RPM, a 4-pole motor at 1500 RPM, a 6-pole motor at 1000 RPM and a 8-pole motor at 750 RPM. The higher the pole count, the higher the torque output but lower the speed.

Yes, all our three phase motors can be used with VFD's (also called Inverters), which allow speed control as well as allowing you to run a 230/400V Three phase motor on a 240V single phase supply.

  • B3 (Foot Mount) is the most common configuration, where the feet are bolted to a base/mounting plate.
  • B14 or B14S (Small C Face mounted) has a smaller face flange for compact installation with drilled and tapped holes.
  • B5 (D Flange mounted) has a large flange for mounting direct to equipment. No feet required.
  • B34S (Foot & Small C Face mounted) has a combination of a foot mount and a small face mount for a secure fit with maximum flexibility.
  • B35 (Foot & D Flange mounted) has a combination mounting with large flange providing both stability on the ground and a direct flange coupling to the driven equipment.

If you are unsure or would like to confirm the mounting type of your existing motor you can contact our technical team by email (sales@mmengservices.co.uk), WhatsApp or call 01274 288777

All our three phase motors come with a 12 month warranty. Returns are accepted within a 30 day period as long as the motor is new, unused with all its original packaging.
